Worked at a design hub for various newspaper properties owned by CNHI in Oklahoma in Texas. Designs included black and white as well as color ads for print and web. Also maintained plate machines and processed pages to be placed on the press for several publications within the region.

Managing Editor
Tuttle Times • Mustang, OK • March 2014–April 2014
Oversaw production of a 12-16 page weekly newspaper. Wrote news, features and sports articles, took photographs, designed pages for layout, and maintained the newspaper’s social media outlets and website. Worked with stringers to ensure coverage. Maintained correspondence through telephone and email.

Page Designer
Durant Daily Democrat • Durant, OK • April 2007–June 2010
Served as the page designer for Durant’s daily newspaper, special sections and the Durant Chamber of Commerce’s annual magazine, Discover Durant. Responsible for layout of pages and updating the website. Solely responsible for the design of the front page. Processed forms and photos for obituaries, community calendar and birth, wedding, anniversary and birthday announcements. Designed covers for special sections.

Freelance Videographer, Video Editor
March 2007–current
Filmed and/or edited video in addition to taking photos for various clients including weddings, receptions, commercials, music videos, introduction videos and church-related events. Converted videos from VHS to DVD while adding menus and adjusting color and brightness. Collaboration with others led to the editing process of three Disciple Now videos for the Weatherford First Baptist Church, which were also completed within hours of the presentations.

Designed 15-second advertisement stills for Community Channels in the Midwest region by communicating with contractors, technicians and customers. Ads were from organizations, colleges and businesses such as car dealerships and real-estate agents  Solely responsible for preparing church services, video advertisements and Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s videos for play on the local Community Channel.

Served as editor of Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s student newspaper of 40 members. Wrote and edited articles and designed page layouts for each edition. Worked with the editorial board to make news judgements and assignments. Designed graphics for use with weekly features and in addition to new banner head.

Notable Contributions

Durant Daily Democrat
Redesigned the banner head template to include “Inside Today’s Edition” above the fold, which usually would feature the top local sports article. Rack sales increased upon implementing the redesign Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, which coincided with Volume 109, Issue 1.
Produced a 44-page document, including detailed instructions with visual guides, to train new employees on the basics of uploading documents to the newspaper’s website, developing the templates in Quark, creating PDFs, uploading documents to FTP sites and printing to an image setter as well as other various day-to-day tasks.

Suddenlink Communications, Inc.
Modified the Suddenlink logo to use against various backgrounds. My immediate supervisor sent the modified logo to her supervisor of the company and reported it was used as his new e-mail signature.

The Southwestern
Increased the responsibilities of the paid staff to include a weekly column rotation. Developed a banner head that continued to be used from 2005 until 2009.
